//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Racing Bonus Pack for Mobile Forces Documentation //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Mental Race /////////// Mental Race is a new, bonus gametype for Mobile Forces, put together by the game's creators, Real Time Worlds. Mental race is designed to be placed in maps compatible with Mobile Forces' Trailer mode, i.e. 'mf-' maps, such as the 11 original environments which came with the retail release, and any extra 'tra-' maps created by the community. The new game type can be started from the Skirmish mode screen for offline play with bots, or from the Multiplayer Host game screen for LAN or internet play. Gameplay //////// The objective in Mental Race is to complete laps of a level, by crossing checkpoints in the race car provided. The race cars are spawned at the positions of each of the teams' trailer delivery points, and an additional checkpoint is created at the place where the trailer would spawn, in the trailer game. The next checkpoint that must be raced to at any time is highlighted on the minimap, and they must be completed in the sequence: 1. Middle CP 2. Enemy Base CP 3. Middle CP 4. Home Base CP When the race car returns to its spawn point at your home base after having passed the other checkpoints, a lap will have been completed, and the team will score a point. However, driving through a checkpoints will earn the driving player a point as well. Points are scored based upon the colour of the racecar - so driving an enemy car through checkpoints will benefit the enemy side. Known Issues //////////// This game type has been added after Mobile Forces has been completed, and is grafted into maps which were not designed with it in mind. As such, there may be issues in some maps, particularly with AI code, since bots in vehicles may end up in areas which they do not know how to drive out of (notably in the Warehouse level, they may easily get stuck in the Holdout Warehouse area).
